For the holiday’s this year, I’ll be sharing short, simple tips on how to navigate the holidays with more ease and peace in the heart.

Number One:

Sit down and do nothing for some amount of time every day.

Easy, huh? That’s it!

If you want to be fancy, call it meditation. Try using your breath as an anchor keeping you in the present moment. We all suffer from over active minds at this time of year. It’s okay. It’s important to know that we have a choice here though. We don’t need to let that holiday stress run us ragged.

We can pause any time. Just sit and focus on the breath or on sensation in some part of the body and just attune to those sensations as fully as we can. And when the mind runs off wondering about food or gifts or clothes or whatever, we can just kindly, sweetly notice what’s happened.

“Oh look, my mind’s run off like an hyperactive Christmas elf again. Too much sugar!”

And then, gently invite the little elf mind back to the body or the breath.

Remember, our peace is always right here inside us waiting to be re-discovered.

That’s it. Try it and let me know how it goes.
