8 Weeks to Happiness Course

try to remember that even a momentary pause allowing ourselves to check into the breath and body sensations, can relieve us of stress by bringing us intentionally into the present moment, non-judgementally. Just the act of paying attention is an act of love and connection. When we see not only our own personal, ego-based dramas but the sufferings of all others as equally real, then we are connected and can awaken the heart of compassion for ourselves and for all others as well.

Let’s try to keep our practice simple and humble.

Be like the lotus flower, no matter how challenging is the environment, it spread its fragrance and non of mud water can attach on the leaves.

Good afternoon, friends,

I hope that where ever you are, you’re having a great weekend. The sun is out and the air feels so fresh here. Love, love, love fall!

In the event that you may be feeling a tad stressed…consider bringing this into awareness:

When you feel the business of life taking over, try to remember that even a momentary pause allowing ourselves to check into the breath and body sensations, can relieve us of stress by bringing us intentionally into the present moment, judgmentally. Just the act of paying attention is an act of love and connection. When we see not only our own personal, ego-based dramas but the sufferings of all others as equally real, then we are connected and can awaken the heart of compassion for ourselves and for all others as well.

If you would like to develop your transformational mindfulness practice even more, here’s the low-down on Calm Chicago’s next 8-week Mindfulness courses.

You’ll see there’s one course before the holidays and one just after. If possible, I want you to be able to enjoy the course before the rush of the holiday season, which will make that time more enjoyable and less stressful for all of you. But if that’s not feasible, there’s another course to help you recuperate afterwards. Either way, a great way to head into 2015 with new balance, perspective and compassion.

2014: Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, Dec. 3, 13, 20 Saturdays 4-6pm

2015: Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7. 14, 21, 28 Saturdays 4-6pm

The tuition is $550 and includes all books and support materials. You need to bring notebook and writing implement, yoga mat and your open heart and desire to see what eight weeks of mindfulness can bring. Each session will include guided meditation, mind/body movement qigong exercises to cultivate gentle yet sharp and clear awareness of the body and considerations of how to apply the lessons of formal practice to our every day lives.  We’ll also do some writing around our developing practice. This is a great way to chart your progress. The best attitude to come to the class with is this: simply open curiosity to see what will happen. I can’t tell you what will change for you, but I can promise you that if you commit to the course, something will indeed change.

For the Nov-Dec class, registration and payment required by Tuesday, October 28th so I can reserve space and order books etc. to arrive on time. I will have meditation cushions and benches here but if you want to get your own for home practice let me know and we order those for you. Class size limited to 10.

Registration and payment for the 2015 class must be received no later Jan. 5th

Registering for the class indicates your commitment to the entire 8-week program which supports your own development as well as the group as a whole. Refunds are available before the course commences.
